Porter To Join MacEwan University

Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce that James Porter Jr. has committed to MacEwan University for next season.

Porter Jr. is entering his 4th year of junior hockey. He spent last season split with the Vipers and Spokane Chiefs of the WHL. He spent two seasons with the Kelowna Rockets after playing with Edge School Prep.

"I was happy when MacEwan University reached out," says Porter Jr. "I felt like choosing MacEwan gives me a chance to grow in hockey and academically. My family and I were happy with the decision."

Porter Jr says securing a place to play next year will motivate him, while continuing to enjoy his final season of junior hockey.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for James to continue his playing career and academic endeavors," says Head Coach and GM of the Vipers Jason McKee. "In a trying year for all players, to know James will be moving on to the next stage of his career and life is wonderful news.

Join us in congratulating James and his family.
