After The Buzzer – Spruce Kings 3 Vipers 1

Vernon, BC:  Luke Buss scored in the games opening minute and Ethan David stopped 24 of 27, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Spruce Kings toppled the Vipers 3-1.

On the opening shift the Vipers generated a good chance right away as a puck bounced around in the blue paint before Luke Buss was able to shovel it home for his 7th goal of the season.  The Spruce Kings equalized midway through the period on a goal from Simon Labelle.  Ethan David showed off his athleticism in the final minute of the period with a glorious sprawling save to keep it 1-1 after 1.

The Vipers came out flat in the second period.  PG took the lead shortly after a powerplay expired as Kilian McGregor-Bennett wrapped around his second goal of the season to make it 2-1.  The Vipers surrendered a shorthanded goal to Nick Rheaume midway through the period making it 3-1.  Reagan Milburn had a great chance to make it 3-2, but was stopped by Aaron Trotter.

The Vipers pushed to cut the deficit in the third, but Trotter and his crossbar stood tall as the final score finished 3-1.

The Vipers are back in action Saturday night as they play host to the Penticton Vees for Retro Night.  Puck drop is at 6pm at Kal Tire Place.
