Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers held a three nothing lead after 40 minutes, but it wouldn’t be enough on this night as the Vees rallied to take the game by a 4-3 score.
The Vipers jumped out to an early lead on a powerplay after Reagan Milburn rifled home a one timer just 4 seconds into the man advantage. Ryan Shostak increased the lead a few minutes later making it 2-0 after 1.
They had plenty of opportunities to increase their lead. One powerplay in particular had at least 3 grade A opportunities only to be thwarted by Kaeden Lane. Luke Buss kept his point streak alive with a nice effort through the slot making it 3-0. That score would hold after 2 periods.
Roan Clarke made a number of key saves early but eventually the momentum shifted as Brett Moravec fired home a rebound. Ethan Mann scored midway through the period making it 3-2. The Vees powerplay, which was kept quiet through most of the game, executed to make it 3-3. A minute later the Vees took their first lead of the night following a Josh Nadeau goal. The Vipers tried desperately to even it up but couldn’t find the equalizer as the final horn sounded.
The Vipers will next welcome in West Kelowna for a Wednesday night matchup.
