After the Buzzer – Vipers Blank Rivermen

Vernon, BC:  On the heels of a comeback that saw the Vipers register a point after a 3rd period rally, the Vipers buttoned down, surrendered just 18 shots against and got some timely goals as they defeated the Langley Rivermen 4-0.

The first period was a little slow moving.  Both teams looked they were coming in off emotional efforts the night before.  Roan Clarke, who wasn’t tested a lot, made a giant save while shorthanded keeping it scoreless.  The Vipers ended the period with a narrow shot advantage of 12-8 in a scoreless first period.

The Vipers dominated the middle period outshooting Langley 15-5.  They opened the scoring as a point shot from Griffen Barr was deflected by Thomas Tien in front.  A few minutes later a rolling puck fired from Connor Elliott wobbled through making it 2-0.  Reagan Milburn finished off a nice passing play to make it 3-0 after 2.

Langley had a powerplay trailing by 3, opting to pull the goaltender in an attempt to break the shutout bid.  The Vipers missed two looks at the empty net before some penalties by Langley put Vernon on the powerplay.  Luke Pakulak set up Lee Parks for a beauty finish on a 4 on 3 man advantage making it 4-0.  The Vipers defended strong in front of Roan Clarke to ensure the safety of the shutout making the final 4-0.

The Vipers head to West Kelowna on Friday for a date with the Warriors.
