After the Buzzer – Vipers Blank Spruce Kings

Vernon, BC:  Zack Tonelli had a pair of goals and Ethan David turned aside 22 shots as the Vernon Vipers got their 4th shutout of the season, downing Prince George 2-0.

The Vipers killed off two penalties in the first period and minimized the damage by only allowing one shot.  The period had plenty of stops and starts for both sides.  The main highlight was a thunderous body check from Cade McNelly on Colton Cameron.

PG started the second on a powerplay where Luc Laylin rang a shot off the cross bar.  The Vipers responded minutes later as Talon Zakall snapped a slap pass to Zack Tonelli who deftly deflected the pass up under the bar to make it 1-0 on just their 4th shot of the game and first shot of the period.  Moments after that Austin Fraser was given a 5-minute major penalty for a Blow to the Head and a game misconduct after a hit on Copeland Fricker in the Vernon zone.  The Vipers would strike in the final minute of the powerplay and again it was Zack Tonelli converting on a bouncing puck in the goal crease.

In the third the Vipers weathered the PG flurry and Ethan David made the saves needed to get the horn to sound with a 2-0 win for the home side.

The Vipers will hit the road Friday to take on the Merritt Centennials.
