After the Buzzer – Vipers Blanked By Eagles

Surrey, BC:  The Eagles struck twice in the first and three more times in the third as they downed the Vernon Vipers by a 5-0 score on Friday night at the South Surrey Arena.

The Vipers led 8-1 in the shot department early on, but Jake Bongo opened the scoring with the first of two in the period as he converted on a follow up try after a 2 on 1.  The Vipers PK killed off a Surrey powerplay midway through the frame.  A costly mistake led to the second Eagles goal as Jake Bongo again jumped on a turnover and ripped home his 10th of the season making it 2-0 after 1.

The Vipers had a good middle frame, but couldn’t solve Eli Pulver despite having two consecutive powerplays to start the second.

In the third, the Eagles pulled away with goals from Aaron Schwartz, a shorthanded goal.  Ryden Evers and Ethan Riesterer finished off the scoring in the third.  Eli Pulver was solid stopping all 25 shots he faced for his third shutout of the year.

The Vipers are back in action Saturday when they take on the Coquitlam Express.
