After the Buzzer – Vipers Bump Slump with Win over PG

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers had four different goal scorers and Roan Clarke stopped 24 saves as the Vernon Vipers ended a 6 game winless streak with a 4-3 win over the Prince George Spruce Kings.

In a very even first period the Vipers were the only team to get on the board as Matthew Culling scored his second of the season.  The Vipers had a strong defensive period keeping the Spruce Kings to just one quality scoring chance that Clarke stopped late in the frame.

Griffen Barr extended the lead as he was set up by Culling from behind the net for his first goal of the season.  The lethal PG powerplay struck next as Rowan Miller tipped home a Dylan Schives point shot.  The score held up after 2.

Ryan Shostak scored early in the third making it 3-1 before Zack Tonelli tipped in a point shot making it 4-1 midway through.  Nick Rheaume rifled home his 10th goal of the season cutting the deficit in half with 5 minutes left.  With the goalie pulled, PG pushed to get the game within one, which they were able to do with 36 seconds left after another Rowan Miller goal.  A couple of key shot blocks later the horn sounded give the Vipers a 4-3 lead.

The Vipers will hit the road for their first of three trips to Prince George for a date with the Spruce Kings on Friday night.
