After the Buzzer – Vipers Drop a 6-5 Decision in Cranbrook

Cranbrook, BC:  Lee Parks and Thomas Tien each had a pair of goals and Anson McMaster pitched in with a single, but the Vipers couldn’t muster a tying goal late as they fell to the Cranbrook Bucks 6-5.

Parks who has been red hot, we’ve said that before, pitched in a three point night which started just 77 seconds into the game as he caught Nathan Airey looking the wrong way from behind the net.  He netted his 20th of the season in the second period finishing off a nice 3 on 1.  His assist came on the Anson McMaster goal.  Parks now has 41 points in 41 games and has 14 points in his last 7 games (7 goals, 7 assists).

Thomas Tien recently returned to the lineup and contributed in a big way with a pair of goals, his 4th and 5th, both of which came off rebounds in front of the Cranbrook goal.

Anson McMaster scored his 2nd goal of the season on a point shot in the second period.

Roan Clarke started the game and surrendered four goals on fourteen shots before being replaced by Ethan David early in the second period.  Clarke would return to the net for the third and made 33 saves in the no decision.

The Vipers were 0 for 1 on the powerplay and killed off 3 of 4 Cranbrook powerplays including a crucial one in the last few minutes.

The Bucks offense was paced by their APs tonight as Kaslo Ferner and Peyton Mathmuangneua each scored their first BCHL goals.  Ferner finished the night with 2 goals and 1 assist to earn the games first star.

Blake Cotton, Jack Silich and Noah Quinn rounded out the Bucks scoring.

Nathan Airey made 32 saves for the win.

The Vipers continue their road trip on Saturday night in Trail at 7pm.
