Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers had a goal from Luke Pakulak and newcomer Koen MacInnes stopped 17 of 18 in regulation, but the Vipers fell 2-1 in a shootout to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
The game was much more defensive than a night ago with just 15 shots combined and no scoring.
In the second Luke Pakulak spun home a loose puck for his first goal in junior hockey. That score would hold after 2 periods.
A Salmon Arm powerplay in the second half of the period had Drew Bennett tipping home a point shot to tie the game up.
In overtime, both teams went end to end multiple times, but goaltending and defense were up to the challenge.
In a shootout Carter Loney would score the only goal to give Salmon Arm the extra point.
The Vipers are back at it next weekend when they have a home and home set with the Penticton Vees.
