After the Buzzer – Vipers Fall Just Short In Overtime Loss

Vernon, BC:  Ayden Third and JoJo Tanaka-Campbell had goals and Ethan David was stellar in goal, as the Vipers fell just short in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Penticton Vees.

The Vees struck early as a puck from behind the net found Thomas Pichette in front to make it 1-0 early on.  The Vees had the majority of the run of play in the first half of the period.  In the second however, the Vipers found their legs and did a good job and it turned the momentum in their favour.  The momentum paid off as JoJo Tanaka-Campbell spotted Ayden Third on the left wing and he snapped a low shot past Colin Purcell to even the game up in the final minute of period 1.

The Vipers earned their first lead of the pre season on a strange play that allowed the Vipers a 2 on 0 rush.  Reagan Milburn and JoJo Tanaka-Campbell set up a great play that allowed the latter to tally his first goal of the preseason.  Ethan David was tested often in the middle period, but stopped all 18 shots he faced.

It was a solid defensive period for both sides in the third.  The Vees scored the equalizer late as Bradley Nadeau converted on a centering pass.

In overtime Ethan Mann converted on their second shot of the period to give Penticton a 3-2 win.

The Vipers are next in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Salmon Arm to take on the Silverbacks.
