Vernon, BC: Luke Lavery scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal, but the Vipers couldn’t climb out of a 3-goal deficit and fell 4-2.
The Vipers fell behind early as Bauer Morrissey scored on his own rebound three minutes in. Tyson Dyck converted on a Vipers turnover to make it 2-0 before the media timeout.
In the second Hayden Gelbard tallied his first BCHL goal off a strange bounce off the glass to make it 3-0.
The intermission seemed to spark the Vipers as they had a couple of early chances that they couldn’t convert on. Luke Lavery scored his first of the season with a rocket under the crossbar to make it 3-1. Just 9 seconds later the Vipers closed the gap after JoJo Tanaka-Campbell scored on a nice set up from Cam MacDonald. The Vipers controlled the remainder of the game, but couldn’t solve Nathan Airey. Andrew King scored into the empty net to make the final 4-2.
The Vipers will be in action on Friday night as they make their first trip to the Cominco Arena to face the Trail Smoke Eaters.
