After the Buzzer: Vipers Make It Four Straight with Win over Silverbacks

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers kept their winning streak rolling Saturday night, defeating the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 4-1 for their fourth consecutive victory.

Kason Kobelka led the way in goal, stopping 26 of 27 shots to earn first-star honours. It was his second win of the season, with both coming against the Silverbacks.

Vernon’s powerplay provided a spark, with Tommy Karmiris scoring his team-leading third goal of the season and Luca Pura adding his second. Ben Trebicky and Oscar Bjork supplied the even-strength offence, while Pura and Trebicky each finished with a goal and an assist.

The Vipers continued to deliver on the other side of the special-teams battle, killing off both Salmon Arm powerplays. Vernon remains the only team in the BCHL with a perfect penalty kill this season.

Alexis Beaulieu spoiled Kobelka’s shutout bid in the third period, but the Vipers’ netminder and his teammates closed out another strong performance against a familiar opponent.

Noah Mavin made 23 saves on 27 shots for Salmon Arm before Mikkel Christensen took over for the final 22 minutes.

There’s little time to catch their breath, as the Vipers return to Kal Tire Place on Sunday afternoon to host the Blackfalds Bulldogs.

Bring the family and help keep the streak going! Kids’ tickets are just $5. Get your tickets at VernonVipers.com.
