After the Buzzer – Vipers Rally For Shootout Win Over Grizzlies

Vernon, BC:  It took the Vipers 58 minutes, but it was worth the wait as Max Borovinskiy's first goal of the season evened the game up at 1, en route to shootout victory.

After two good shifts to start the game, the Vipers gave up a glorious chance as Ethan David stopped Olivier Picard on a breakaway.  Picard however, followed up on the rebound and centered for Jack Gorton who scored his second goal in as many games to make it 1-0.  From there it was the goaltender show.  Ethan David and Ansel Holt were perfect the rest of the period.

In the second, the Grizzlies really found their stride in the offensive zone, outshooting and out chancing the Vipers.  Shots finished 16-6 in favour of the visitors, but they couldn't solve David again.

Things tightened up in the third and open space was at a premium.  It took until the Vipers were able to get up 6 on 6, where they were finally able to find their offense.  Ethan Merner set up Max Borovinskiy for a snap shot from the low circle late in regulation to make it 1-1.

Lee Parks had overtimes best chance to score after undressing the trio of Grizzlies, he ultimately was robbed by Holt.

In the shootout, neither side could beat a goaltender in the first three rounds.  Luke Pakulak snapped one five hole on Holt in the fourth round to put the Vipers ahead.  David would make the next save to give Vernon the extra point and a 3-game win streak.

The Vipers homestand continues next Friday as they host the Prince George Spruce Kings.
