After the Buzzer – Vipers Solid in 2021 Pod Debut, Win 4-1

Vernon, BC:  Ryan Shostak and Jack Glen had 2 points and James Porter Jr. was stellar in goal stopping 32 of 33 shots as the Vernon Vipers downed the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 4-1 in the 2021 Pod Season.

The Silverbacks struck first early in the period as Drew Bennett pounced on a rebound that kicked out in front of the net to make it 1-0.  The Vipers drew a powerplay a few moments later and would even the game up after a nice passing play set up Ryan Shostak for his first goal of the season.  The period had a lot of flow and pace, but it wasn't until a neutral zone turnover, that Reagan Milburn set up Logan Lorenz for his first BCHL goal to give the Vipers a 2-1 lead after 1 period.

Salmon Arm took control of a good chunk of the second period, but shot blocks and James Porter Jr. were the great equalizer sending the game to the final frame with the same 2-1 score.

The Vipers powerplay struck again early as Jack Glen spotted Cam MacDonald on the right side and he wired a shot through Owen Say to make it 3-1.  From there the Vipers did a great job of defending the lead surrendering just 7 third period shots.  Jack Glen would poke home a loose puck in the last two minutes to seal the game and the win for his team by a 4-1 score.

The Vipers are off Saturday, but will battle the West Kelowna Warriors on Sunday afternoon at 4pm.
