Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers won their second straight game on Saturday night as they downed the hometown Chilliwack Chiefs by a 4-1 score.
The Vipers opened the scoring in a back and forth first period after Cam MacDonald picked off a clearing attempt then wired a puck past Cole Savage to make it 1-0. Connor Milburn equalized a minute later deflecting a point shot from Xavier Henry to make it 1-1 after 1.
The Vipers jumped on the attack in the second despite falling short on a double minor powerplay. They extended their lead as Luke Buss rifled home his 3rd goal of the season. A few minutes later the Vipers increased their lead after a turnover in the Chilliwack zone. Cam MacDonald set up Reagan Milburn for a tap in to make it 3-1. Zack Tonelli scored late in the period to give the Vipers a 4-1 lead heading to the dressing room.
In the third it was all Vipers defense as they kept Chilliwack to just 3 shots against. Roan Clarke made a couple of big saves and the horn would sound to end 4-1 in the Vipers favour.
The Vipers are back in action Sunday morning when they take on the Alberni Valley Bulldogs to wrap up Showcase weekend.
