After the Buzzer – Vipers Take Family Day Matinee, 2-1

Vernon, BC:  The Vipers had a pair of goals from Matt Culling and Roan Clarke made 28 saves as they got back in the win column with a 2-1 victory over the Prince George Spruce Kings on Family Day.

The Vipers used the crowd early to generate a couple of chances.  Just past the 3 minute mark a Griffen Barr point shot was deflected home by Matt Culling to make it 1-0.  Prince George evened the game up on the powerplay as John Harrington picked the far post 3  minutes later.  The Vipers had to kill of two more powerplays in the period, although one carried over into the second period.

Moments after the penalty expired, Seiya Tanaka-Campbell set up Matt Culling who let loose an absolute laser past Jordan Fairlie to make it 2-1 Vernon.  The Vipers had a lot of jump throughout the period, but couldn’t solve Fairlie again who stopped 11 of 12 in the period.

In the third, the Spruce Kings pushed for the equalizer and had two grade A opportunities, but Roan Clarke turned them both aside.  Prince George had a late flurry with the goalie pulled, but again the Vipers weathered the storm to finish the game off 2-1.

The Vipers will head to Trail on Friday for a matchup at 7pm.
