Nanaimo, BC: The Vernon Vipers saw their yeo-game win streak come to an end Friday night, falling 5-2 to the Nanaimo Clippers at Frank Crane Arena.
Landon MacDonald and Lucas Brennan found the back of the net for the Vipers, while Jari Kykkanen stood tall in goal with 27 saves. Despite their efforts, the Vipers’ powerplay struggled, going 0-for-3 on the night, while the penalty kill managed to shut down two of Nanaimo’s three man-advantage opportunities.
Dylan Kinch led the way for the Clippers with a goal and an assist, while Joel Plante, Makaio Van Tassel, Connor Haynes, and Chase Hull each contributed a goal to secure the victory. Goaltender Otto Nuto delivered a stellar performance, turning aside 35 of 37 shots for the win.
The Vipers will look to bounce back quickly as they head to Powell River for a Saturday night matchup against the Kings, with puck drop set for 5 p.m.
