May 4th, 2014

This Sunday, May 4th, the finals of the Fred Page Cup 2014 were held at Melançon arena between the St-Jerome Panthers (Host) and the Carleton Place Canadians (CCHL). The fans present had the chance to assist to an excellent hockey game till the end of the game.

Undefeated in this tournament, the Canadians didn't have it so easy from the Panthers who played a fifth games in 5 days. Everything came in the third period and the Canadians defeated the Panthers 3-1.

The Panthers are the first to score when Jonathan Charbonneau scores his fifth goal of the tournament to get to lead the game 1-0. The game was very fast and
both teams had many chances to score. At the end of the period, the Canadians strike back on the power play to tie the game 1-1.

No goal was scored in the second period. Both teams played defensive.

Everything changes because of a mistake at the blue line and Stephen Baylis scores a short hand goal with his first goal of the tournament and the Canadians lead the game now for the first time 2-1. The Panthers try to strike back with an empty net to get one more player, but Dylan Gareau scores the assurance goal to get to lead the game 3-1.

The Panthers team can be proud of themselves, the host team surprised more than one this week when they defeated both champions: Granby Inouk (LHJAAAQ) and the Truro Bearcats (MHL). This is a major accomplishment for the Panthers even though they were defeated.
