Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers look to turn a strong effort into results tonight as they welcome the Cranbrook Bucks to Kal Tire Place. It’s the final contest of a four-game homestand, with puck drop set for 6:00 PM.
Last Night
The Vipers carried a 3-2 lead into the third period on goals from Michael Munroe, Sam Charko and Evan Sundar, but Trail struck twice in the final frame to edge Vernon 4-3. Goaltender Brendan Gee was solid with 29 saves on 33 shots.
Special Teams Report
Vernon (0-2-1) will be looking for a spark from the powerplay, which has created chances but is still searching for its first goal of the season (0-for-12). The penalty kill, however, has been excellent — shutting down 14 of 16 opposition opportunities so far, including a 7-for-8 effort last night against Trail.
Scouting the Bucks
Cranbrook (1-1-1) comes in looking to rebound after a 6-0 setback in West Kelowna on Friday. The Bucks were outshot 28-19, went 0-for-4 on the man advantage, but stayed perfect on the penalty kill (4-for-4). In goal, Kolton Bourret allowed four goals on 14 shots before Richard Rafaj came in relief, stopping 12 of 14 the rest of the way.
