GAME DAY PREVIEW: Vipers vs Bulldogs

Port Alberni, BC:  The Vernon Vipers continue their lengthy road trip tonight as they make their lone visit to Port Alberni to take on the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. This marks Game 6 of a 7-game stretch away from Kal Tire Place.

Vernon Vipers Outlook

The Vipers (3-6-3-0) are looking to bounce back after a pair of one-goal losses in Alberta last weekend, most recently a 3-2 defeat to Sherwood Park. Tight games have been a theme so far — 8 of their 12 contests have been decided by a single goal, with Vernon going 1-4-3 in those matchups.

Despite the results, the Vipers have shown steady defensive structure and strong goaltending throughout their trip. They enter the night with a road record of 2-3-0-0.

The powerplay will be a key storyline — Vernon continues to work on finding consistency with the man advantage, sitting at 6.9%.

Alberni Valley Bulldogs Outlook

The Bulldogs (5-7-1-0) have also dropped back-to-back games, including a 5-3 setback to Chilliwack on Wednesday. Tonight wraps up a three-game homestand for Alberni Valley, who are looking to improve on a 2-6-0-0 record at the Multiplex.

Like the Vipers, the Bulldogs have struggled to find rhythm on special teams, with a powerplay clicking at 11.1%.

The Matchup

This is the first and only meeting of the season between these two teams — both eager to get back in the win column. Expect a tight-checking battle with special teams and goaltending likely to play a major role.
