MacDonald Named 1st Star

Vernon Vipers forward Cameron MacDonald, Cowichan Valley Capitals forward Adam Jeffery and Cranbrook Bucks forward Johnny Johnson have been named the BCHL’s 3 Stars of the Week.

1st Star – Cameron MacDonald (F) – Vernon Vipers

The Vipers were the final team to make their Showcase debut last week, but MacDonald made sure the scouts took notice as he led all scorers at the event with five points in two games.

On Saturday night against the host Chilliwack Chiefs, the Surrey, B.C. native opened the scoring with a first-period goal and added an assist in the second period to lead the Vipers to a 4-1 victory. He was named the first star of the game.

Vernon had a quick turnaround as they played on Sunday morning against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, but MacDonald showed no signs of fatigue. The three-year BCHL veteran was in on all three Vipers goals, scoring once himself and adding a pair of assists, as they blanked their opponent 3-0 to finish with a perfect record at this year’s Showcase. He was named second star of the game.

Through five contests, MacDonald has 10 points, tying him for third in league scoring.
