Post-Game Recap: Vernon Vipers Fall 2-1 to West Kelowna Warriors

West Kelowna, BC:   The Vernon Vipers wrapped up their three-game road trip with a 2-1 loss to the West Kelowna Warriors. Lucas Brennan opened the scoring with his team-leading second goal of the season, with assists from Simon Binkley and Will Schumacher.

West Kelowna responded with a shorthanded goal from Carter Oakenfold late in the first period. Jack Pridham netted the eventual game-winner early in the second.

Despite a strong push in the third, the Vipers couldn’t solve Warriors goaltender Ayo Ogini, who stopped 21 of 22 shots. Colin Reay made 25 saves on 27 shots in a solid performance for Vernon.

The Vipers’ power play struggled, going 0-for-3, but the penalty kill was perfect, stopping all three West Kelowna opportunities, including two key kills in the third.

Next up, the Vipers return home to face the Warriors again in their home opener this Saturday at 6 PM.
