Vipers Look to Build Momentum After Big Win
The Vernon Vipers snapped a rough stretch last night with a solid 4-2 victory over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Now, they aim to carry that momentum into tonight’s matchup as they host the Spruce Grove Saints at Kal Tire Place.
Vernon (13-26-6) was led by a standout performance from Kyren Gronick, who notched a goal and two assists. Talan Blanck also contributed a goal and a helper, while goaltender Jari Kykkanen made 24 saves on 26 shots to earn his seventh win of the season.
On the other side, the Saints are coming off a dramatic 4-3 overtime win in Penticton. After giving up a three-goal lead in the third period, Spruce Grove managed to regroup and secure the extra point in OT, thanks to Marko Djordjevic’s first career BCHL overtime winner. Ryan Johnstone led the Saints with three assists, while netminder Ryan De Kok stood tall, turning aside 37 of 40 shots.
This marks the second of four head-to-head meetings between these teams this season. The Saints took the first matchup in January with a tight 3-2 win. The Vipers will be looking for revenge and an opportunity to build off last night’s success.
Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM at Kal Tire Place.
