Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers are back on home ice tonight, still in search of their first win of the season as they host the West Kelowna Warriors at Kal Tire Place. As the Vipers honor the 25th anniversary of their 1999 National Championship team, they’ll be looking to draw inspiration from their storied past.
Despite an 0-3 start to the season, the Vipers showed promise in last night’s hard-fought 2-1 loss to the Warriors. Lucas Brennan notched the lone goal for Vernon, while goaltender Colin Reay had a strong performance with 25 saves on 27 shots.
West Kelowna, now sitting at 1-0, secured the win with key goals from Carter Oakenfold, who scored shorthanded, and Jack Pridham, who netted the game-winner. Goalie Ayo Ogini stood tall for the Warriors, stopping 21 of 22 shots in his BCHL debut victory.
The Vipers will look to tighten up defensively and limit mistakes as they prepare for the second of six matchups against their Interior Division rivals.
Puck drop is set for 6:00 PM. You can catch the action starting with the pregame show at 5:45 on 107.5 Beach Radio, stream it on Vernon Matters, or watch live on FloHockey.
