Sanderson Nets First Home Goal In Overtime Loss To Penticton

Vernon, BC:  Ben Sanderson scored his first goal in front of the Vernon faithful and Jack Judson pitched in 2 assists as the Vipers fell 3-2 in overtime to the Penticton Vees.

It was a tale of two 10 minute segments for the Vipers in the first period.  The Vees jumped out to an 8-1 shot advantage mid way thru.  The Vipers turned it on in the second half of the period outshooting the Vees 10-0 the rest of the way.  Both goaltenders were rock solid and both PK’s killed of each others powerplays.

In the second, the Penticton powerplay struck as James Miller scored his 10th of the year.  The Vipers responded just 40 seconds later as Jack Judson set up Ben Sanderson for his 2nd of the year.  The Vipers continued to do a lot of good things, testing Jack LaFontaine and playing well in their own zone.

The Vipers started the third period on a powerplay and Sebastian Streu deflected home a point shot from Jack Judson to give the Vipers their first lead of the night.  The Vipers then found themselves in penalty trouble late in the period and the Vees capitalized on a Ryan Sandelin goal to make it 2-2.  The Vipers were again shorthanded after a major penalty to Mitch Andres in the final minute.  The Vipers managed to get the game to overtime tied at 2.

In the 4 on 3 powerplay that started overtime, Eric Linell wired a slap shot home to give the visitors the 3-2 win.
