Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce that Seiya Tanaka-Campbell has been named team captain for the remainder of the season.
"At the start of the year the plan was to go with a leadership group and that hasn't changed," says Head Coach and GM of the Vipers Jason McKee. "We wanted to evaluate the first half in regards to all our players' leadership capabilities. Our 3 assistant captains have done a very good job to date but as time has gone on it's become very clear to the staff who the captain of our team should be. Seiya exemplified throughout the first half of the season the dedication, work ethic, integrity, and detailed approach that we are looking for in all our players. Everything we do he does with passion and cares deeply about the Vernon Vipers organization and all his teammates."
"Our leadership group has expanded and become stronger as Seiya, Griffen, Luke and Ayden work together to set the standard that we are accustomed to from some of the great leadership groups this organization has seen in the past."
The Mill Bay, BC product is in his 3rd season with the Vipers. He follows in the footsteps of older brother JoJo Tanaka-Campbell who was also captain of the team last season.
"It's a tremendous honour to be named captain," says Tanaka-Campbell. "I will fill the role as best I can while continuing to be the same player I've been all year and throughout my career."
Please join us in congratulating Seiya on this accomplishment.
