Tanaka-Campbell Wins CJHL Academic Player of the Year

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers are thrilled to announce that JoJo Tanaka-Campbell has been awarded the CJHL Academic Player of the Year.

Tanaka-Campbell, from Mill Bay, BC, was having a stellar rookie campaign before it was cut short due to injury.  He posted 7 goals and 19 assists in 52 games.

“My philosophy growing up wasn’t to just focus on improving in one area,” says Tanaka-Campbell.  “It was to work and achieve greater heights in all my interests in a balanced way, like hockey and academics.”

Not only did Tanaka-Campbell have a great year on the ice, he did fantastic work in the classroom and that was recognized with a scholarship to Yale.

“This drive helped peak my interest in University life but it also taught me to grow up fast and learn things that apply in life.” he says.

Responsibility, time management and work ethic are just a few of the examples of what he continues to strive for.
