Vees Down Vipers 4-1

August 25, 2016
Kal Tire Place | Vernon

The Vernon Vipers unofficially kicked off the 2016-17 season with a 4-1 exhibition loss to the Penticton Vees Thursday night at Kal Tire Place. The Vipers opted to dress a younger squad with only a handful of veterans suiting for the pre-season game.  First period action was all Penticton as the Vees carried most of the play including a pair of goals from Grant Cruikshank and Jared Nash and limited the Vipers to only three shots in the opening period.

In the 2nd period the Vipers came out playing a more physical brand of hockey with several big checks and just two minutes into the period, Jagger Williamson found the back of the net on a nice 2-on-1 play (CLICK TO SEE THE BDO GOAL OF THE GAME). But in the 3rd period the Vees would add two more power play goals. Both Noah Jordan and Phil Leahy scored PP goals with two man advantages.

Assistant Coach Kevin Kraus says despite the loss the coaching staff was happy with the effort the players put into the game:

The Vernon Vipers are back in action tonight (Friday, August 26th) at 7pm against the Merritt Centennials. Tickets are just $5.00 and will go on sale two hours before game time at Kal Tire Place.
