Vernon Kia Game Day! – Vipers Host Silverbacks in Huge Sunday Matinee

Vernon, BC:   The Vernon Vipers look to put a small 2-game slide in the rearview mirror this afternoon when they host division rivals the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in a battle for 3rd place.

The Vipers (23-18-2-1) come in following a 5-1 loss in Trail on Friday night.  Landon Fuller had the only goal, plus a very spirited scrap with Trail defenceman Powell Connor.  Fuller has blown by his career high in points.  This season has been a very good one for the veteran who has more points this season than his last 4 seasons combined.   The Vipers remain a point ahead of Salmon Arm and Wenatchee for 3rd place in the division.  Today is the game in hand on the Wild.  Viper captain Connor Marritt recently played in his 150th regular season game.

The Silverbacks (23-19-1-1) come into the game following a tough 2-1 loss in Penticton last night.  They outshot the Vees 31-25, but came up a goal short.  Nick Unruh had the lone goal on a powerplay.  Their powerplay was 1 for 5 last night and is 8th in the BCHL.  The Silverbacks are 4-6 in their last 10 games.  They are 7-10-1-1 away from the Shaw Centre.

Its the final game of the regular season series with the Vipers holding a 4-1 advantage.
