Vernon Kia Game Day! – Vipers Take On Smokies in Trail

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers look to get back in the win column as they travel to Trail for their final regular season visit.

The Vipers (23-17-2-1) come into the game following a tight 2-1 overtime loss to the Penticton Vees on Wednesday night.  With the point the Vipers sit a point ahead of the Silverbacks for 3rd place in the Interior and 3 points up on Wenatchee with all 3 teams having played 43 games.  JoJo Tanaka-Campbell comes into the game on a 7 game point streak.  He was 4 goals in his last 5 games.  Reilly Herbst stopped 44 of 46 bumping up his save percentage to .910 which is 11th in the league and lowering his goals against average to 2.69 which is 8th best in the league.

The Smoke Eaters (27-14-2-1-1) come in following a 6-4 win over the Merritt Centennials on Tuesday.  Before that they had a weekend split with the Vees that saw them win 4-3 at home, then fall 5-1 in Penticton.  The Smoke Eaters are red hot of late having won 8 of their last 10 games.  They have the three leading offensive players in the league with Kent Johnson, Owen Ozar and Michael Colella.  Logan Terness has been a rock for Trail in goal, the 17 year old is 5th in the league in goals against average and 4th in save percentage and 5th in minutes played.

Its the 5th of 6 meetings between these two teams with the Smoke Eaters taking 3 wins and 1 overtime loss.
