The Vernon Vipers are back on home ice for a big weekend set, kicking off Saturday night with a tough test against the Penticton Vees.
The Vipers (14-28-6-0) will look to bounce back after a difficult road trip in Alberta, where they dropped both games. Their most recent outing was a 6-2 loss against Sherwood Park, with Kyren Gronick and Eddie Revenig finding the back of the net. Despite the result, goaltender Jari Kykkanen was busy between the pipes, stopping 39 of 45 shots.
Meanwhile, the Vees (37-7-5-0) come in riding a three-game winning streak. Last night, they handled the Spruce Grove Saints with a 5-2 victory, powered by multi-point efforts from Louie Wehman, Ben Merrill, and Matthew Cataldo. Goalie Will Ingemann turned aside 23 of 25 shots to secure the win.
The two teams are trending in different directions, with Vernon posting a 2-8 record in their last 10 games, while Penticton has been dominant at 7-1-2 over that span.
This matchup marks the sixth and final meeting between the two teams in the regular season, and the Vipers will look to finish the series strong in front of their home crowd. Puck drop is set for 6:00 PM at Kal Tire Place.
