Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce the commitment of 2007-born defenceman Evan Schulha for the 2026-27 BCHL season.
The St. Albert, Alberta native joins the Vipers after spending the 2025-26 season with the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).
Schulha recorded 2 goals and 15 assists for 17 points in 48 games last season. The 5-foot-11, 183-pound defenceman brings a two-way game, combining physical play in his own zone with the ability to contribute offensively.
“Evan is a defenceman who can make a crisp, purposeful breakout pass and get our forwards moving up the ice,” said Head Coach and General Manager Matt Cooke. “He plays with a physical edge in his own zone, but also has the offensive instincts to recognize opportunities and jump into the rush. He’s got a good feel for getting pucks through from the point, and we like the combination of his competitiveness, puck-moving ability, and offensive upside. We believe he’ll be a really good fit for our group.”
Schulha is looking forward to making the move to Vernon and becoming part of the community.
“I’m a two-way, puck-moving defenceman who isn’t afraid to get gritty and compete in the tough areas while also looking to produce offensively,” said Schulha. “I’m excited to get to Vernon, get to know the people and the community, and become part of the Vipers organization. I’m looking forward to getting to work with my new teammates and coaches, competing every night, and doing everything I can to help bring a championship back to the city.”
