Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce the acquisition of the BCHL Playing Rights to 2006-born forward Jacob Wingfield from the Okotoks Oilers in exchange for a player development fee.
Born in Danbury, Connecticut, and raised in Halfmoon Bay, British Columbia, Wingfield brings a physical, hard-nosed style of play to the Vipers’ forward group.
“We’re excited to add Jacob to our organization,” said Vernon Vipers Head Coach and General Manager Matt Cooke. “He plays a rugged game and is a fierce competitor. We feel that edge will add a key element to our roster. He’s the type of player who competes every shift, and we’re looking forward to seeing the impact he’ll have on our team.”
The 6-foot-1 forward has appeared in 73 BCHL games, suiting up for the Langley Rivermen, Alberni Valley Bulldogs, and Powell River Kings. While Wingfield is known for his physical presence and willingness to battle, he has also demonstrated offensive ability throughout his junior career. During his time with the Kerry Park Islanders, he recorded 53 points (22 goals, 31 assists) in 44 games.
The Vernon Vipers would like to welcome Jacob and his family to the organization and look forward to seeing him in Vipers colours this season.
