Vipers Acquire Veteran Ben Butcher from Langley

The Vernon Vipers have traded Defenceman Austin Cho to the Langley Rivermen in exchange for 20 year old Forward Ben Butcher.

Cho was in his rookie season with the Vipers having recorded one assist in 17 games this season.

Butcher is a BCHL veteran having appeared in 184 regular season games and another 9 playoff games.  The product of Bellingham Washington has 5 goals and 5 assists for 10 points in 17 games this season.

At 6 foot 3 200 pounds he will add size and leadership to the Vernon forward group.  The son of former NHL Defenceman Garth Butcher will be joining his 4th BCHL team, but his first outside of the Mainland Division.

The Vipers would like to wish Austin the best of luck and welcome Ben to the team.

Vernon is on the road for three straight this weekend beginning with a stop in Alberni Valley on Friday, Cowichan on Saturday and Surrey on Sunday.

Next home action for Vernon is November 10th (First Responders Night) when the Vipers host the Merritt Centennials.
