Surrey, BC: The Vipers had four different goal scorers, while Aidan Porter stopped 17 of 18 shots as the Vipers rolled to a 4-1 win at the South Surrey Arena over the Eagles.
The Vipers used an early powerplay to generate momentum and dominate the time of possession. They peppered the Surrey goal early and often in the frame, but Hayden Missler was solid and kept the offense at bay. The Vipers opened the scoring after Ryan Upson jumped in on the forecheck causing a turnover, he then centered to Teddy Wooding who ripped home his 13th of the year to make it 1-0. Despite more offensive pressure, the Vipers couldn’t increase their lead but had a lofty shot advantage finishing at 16-4.
In the second, they continued their momentum from the 1st period. They increased their lead after a turnover at their blue line as Anderson moved the puck quickly to Cherkowski, who found Barlevwise down the right wing and after a low hard slap shot, the Vipers had a 2-0 lead. They powerplay struck minutes later as Josh Latta was set up in the right circle and a low hard shot beat Missler blocker side to make it 3-0. That score would hold with the Vipers leading 27-10 in the shot department. Aidan Porter, though not tested often, made a pair of quality saves to preserve the lead.
In the third, the Eagles, as expected pushed to get back in the game. They broke Porters shutout bid as a bouncing puck in the slot was knocked in by Ty Westgard. The Vipers restored their 3-goal lead seconds after a powerplay expired and Tyler Ho deflected in a pass from Trey Taylor to make it 4-1. The Vipers tightened up in the final few minutes as the buzzer sounded for a 4-1 Vipers win.
