Vipers End 2018 with 5-2 Loss In Wenatchee

Wenatchee, WA:  Tyler Ho scored his first goal of the season and Josh Latta added a powerplay tally, but it wasn’t enough as the Wenatchee Wild defeated the Vernon Vipers 5-2 at Town Toyota Center.

The Vipers and Wild had an even first period with both teams getting chances, but unlike the night before, it was Wenatchee who buried on their chances.  The Wild opened the scoring after Nathan Iannone was set up in the high slot and ripped a low shot past Bradley Cooper.  They added to that lead a few minutes later after Brian Adams made a nice play out of the corner and chipped a puck past Cooper to make it 2-0 after 1 period.

The second period was the Vipers best period and were able to get on the board after a great effort from Ben Helgeson who set up Tyler Ho who snapped home his first of the year to make it 2-1.  The Vipers came within a hair of tying it as a centering pass nearly banked in off the goaltender Austin Park, but it hit the post and stayed out.  The Wild were able to hold off the Vipers and then struck late in the 2nd period as Chad Sasaki found some open space and scored to make it 3-1 after 2 period.

The Wild pushed the pace in the third and were rewarded for that as Brian Adams scored a near perfect replicate of his first goal, walking out of the corner and banking the puck in off the post to make it 4-1.  He would get the hat trick goal a few minutes later as he finished off a rebound in front to make it 5-1.  The Vipers made it 5-2 on a powerplay as Josh Latta found the empty cage and that would be the way the game finished.

The Vipers will now enjoy a well deserved Christmas Break and host the West Kelowna Warriors on Friday January 4th.
