Vipers First Loss Of The Season

The Vipers rally fell a little short as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the Powell River Kings to wrap up their showcase.

The Vipers ran into a hot goaltender in Mitch Adamyk who turned aside 34 of 35 in the win.  Brett Stapley ruined the shutout bid with just 10 seconds left while shorthanded.   The Vipers penalty kill was air tight but forced into action too many times as they killed off 9 Powell River powerplays.

The game didn’t see a goal until Josh Coblenz banked home a rebound early in the third.  The Kings got an empty netter with 50 seconds left before the Stapley shorthanded goal.

Anthony Yamnitsky turned away 29 of 30 Kings shots.

The Vipers will now embark on an island/mainland trip to wrap up the month of September, starting Friday night in Victoria.
