Vipers Game Day! – Vipers Battle Centennials

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers look for their second straight win as they head to Merritt to take on the Centennials.

The Vipers (22-17-4-3) come in following their 4th shutout win of the season, 2-0 over Prince George on Wednesday.  Zack Tonelli had a pair of goals and Ethan David stopped 22 shots for his third clean slate of the season.  With the shutout, David is now tied for third in the league in shutouts.  For Tonelli it was his 4th multi point game of the season.  The Vipers are 9-8-3-3 away from Kal Tire Place.  The Vipers are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games on the road.  The Snakes are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games.

The Centennials (3-37-2-1) come in following a 4-2 loss to the Penticton Vees.  They had back to back games with the leagues top team and kept both games close with the other game ending 5-2.  Merritt is 1-8-1 in their last 10 games.  Their most recent win was a 5-3 victory over Trail on February 19th.  The Cents are 1-3-1 in their last 5 and playing their best hockey of the season.  Their three wins have been on home ice.  Ben Ward leads the Centennials in offense with 12 goals and 9 assists.  He’s currently on a three game point streak with 3 goals and 1 assist in that stretch.

This is the third of five head to head meetings.  The Vipers took a 9-1 victory at Kal Tire Place on January 14th before sneaking away with a 4-3 shootout win on the 25th of January.  These teams will play each other two more times on the 16th and 19th of March with a home and home set.
