Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers will look to carry some momentum from a week ago into a big Showcase Showdown with the host Chilliwack Chiefs tonight at the Coliseum.
The Vipers (1-2-0-0) are coming off a thrilling win over Salmon Arm a week ago in the home opener. Cam MacDonald scored the OT winner and Roan Clarke stopped 29 saves on 32 shots including a couple of 10 bell saves. Luke Buss, Ryan Shostak and Reagan Milburn also pitched in with goals. The Viper PK was a perfect 4 for 4 although it felt like more as a pair of the opportunities were double minors. Currently the PK is the only one in the BCHL yet to surrender a goal.
The Chiefs (3-2-0-0) play for the second time in as many nights after dispatching the Merritt Centennials 7-3 thanks to a 5 goal third period flurry. The Chiefs are being led by their blue line as 18 year old Abram Wiebe has 1 goal and 8 assists in just 5 games. The Chiefs powerplay has been lethal scoring 6 goals on 21 opportunities.
Cam MacDonald leads the way offensively for the group and has points in all 3 games this season.
You can catch all the action from the Showcase starting at 7:15 with the pregame show on BCHL.TV or on 107.5 Beach Radio.
