Vipers Game Day – Vipers Host Silverbacks For Home Opener

Vernon, BC:  Redemption is on the docket as the Vipers kick off the home portion of their schedule against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks tonight at Kal Tire Place.

The Vipers (0-1-0-0) come into the game following a 3-0 loss in Salmon Arm last night.  Despite not registering a goal, the Vipers outshot the Backs 36-33.  Roan Clarke was solid in goal turning aside 30 of 32 in the loss.  A bright spot for the Vipers was the play of their penalty kill which was a perfect 5 for 5.

The Silverbacks (1-0-0-0) were carried by some timely goals and timely saves by Matthew Tovell who stopped all 36 shots he faced for his first shutout in the BCHL.  Isaac Lambert, Nathan Mackie and Ethan Ullrick had the Salmon Arm goals.

The special teams battle went the way of the Silverbacks last night despite being 0/5 on the PP.  Their PK was 4 for 4 and they tallied a shorthanded marker.

This is the second of seven head to head meetings this season.
