Vipers Game Day – Vipers Host Vees To Wrap Up Week

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers look to cap off a great week tonight as they take on the Penticton Vees at Kal Tire Place.

The Vipers (21-16-4-3) come in following a shootout win Friday night in Trail.  Zack Tonelli and Cade McNelly had goals and Max Borovinskiy had the shootout winner.  Roan Clarke made 35 saves, including 7 in overtime for the victory.  The Vipers have been to extra time 16 times this season and have 9 wins.  That win combined with the Cranbrook loss last night means the Vipes jump into 5th spot in the Interior Conference.  The Vipers have won both games this week and hold a 7-2-1 record in their last 10 games.

The Vees (35-7-0-2) come in with the best record in the BCHL.  They downed the Merritt Centennials on Friday night by a 5-2 score.  They are 9-1 in their last 10 games with their lone defeat coming to Prince George last weekend.  Since then they’ve won three straight games, two of which were by 1-goal.  The Vees hold a 16-5-0-1 record on the road.  Josh Nadeau and Luc Wilson lead the way offensively for the Vees with 61 and 60 points respectively.

Three out of the four games have been very close solved by one goal or with an empty netter.  There was one lopsided victory in favour of the Vees before Christmas.  In the most recent head to head meeting on February 9th, the Vipers rallied late in the third to force overtime, before falling in the extra period.
