Vipers Game Day! – Vipers Host Warriors

Vernon, BC:  The Vipers will continue their 5-game homestand with some new faces as they host the West Kelowna Warriors for a midweek matchup.

The Vipers (4-9-3-2) come in following a devastating 4-3 loss on Saturday to the Penticton Vees.  The Vipers had a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes, but surrendered 4 goals in the 3rd.  Reagan Milburn, Ryan Shostak and Luke Buss had the Vipers goals.

The Warriors (13-5-0-0) come in following at 2-1 loss the Cranbrook Bucks on Saturday.  After winning 7 straight hockey games, the Warriors are 2-3 in their last 5.  Two Warriors were recipients of supplementary discipline after Tyler Cristall and Chase Dafoe were handed multi-game suspensions.  The Warriors are averaging 4.11 goals per game this season which is 3rd best in the BCHL.  Their goal differential is 4th best at +22.  Felix Trudeau leads the way offensively for West K with 27 points, second best in the league behind Simon Tassy.  In goal, Johnny Derrick is 6th in the league in minutes played with 740.

It’s been a busy week for the Vipers off the ice after a pair of significant trades.  The first saw Logan Lorenz go to Prince George in exchange for Max Borovinskiy.  The second was of the blockbuster kind as the Vipers acquired veteran defenceman Talon Zakall and forward Luke Lavery from Merritt in exchange for Nick Remissong, Desmond Johnson, Braden Smith and future considerations.

Zakall and Borovinskiy are expected to make their Vipers debuts tonight.
