Vipers Game Day! – Vipers Look To Nab Game 2 in West K

Vernon, BC:  The Vipers look to take a 2-nothing series lead tonight against the Warriors in Game 2 of the Best of Seven Series in West Kelowna.

The Vipers took the victory in Game 1 last night on the back of a pair of goals from Cam MacDonald and a strong outing from Roan Clarke.  The powerplay looked good in minimal showings going 1 for 2, which early in the postseason is tops in the BCHL.  Ayden Third, Zack Tonelli and Reagan Milburn also pitched in on the offensive side.  The PK was very good killing off 2 of 3.  From a defensive standpoint it was a really good effort, keeping an very good Warrior team to just 26 shots on goal.

The Warriors had goals from Charles-Alexis Legault and Chase Dafoe.  Johnny Derrick made 29 saves in the Warrior goal.  He was especially strong in the second period stopping all 12 shots the Vipers put his way.  The Warrior powerplay was 1 for 3 and came awfully close on their other two chances.

It was a pretty physical affair through 60 with both teams throwing their weight around.

The Vipers have won their last two games dating back to the regular season, outscoring the opponents 15-5.  The Warriors saw a 10 game win streak come to an end last night.

Game 2 of the series goes tonight at Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna.  You can catch all the action on BCHL.TV or 107.5 Beach Radio starting at 6:45.
