Vipers Game Day – Vipers Make Lone Visit To Surrey

Last Game: The Vipers got back in the win column on Saturday night as they downed the Merritt Centennials 2-1 in overtime.  Thomas Tien and Luke Pakulak had goals, while Ethan David turned aside 22 shots for the victory.  They heavily outshot Merritt 37-23.  The Vipers have now won three straight games on home ice.

Today’s Game: The Vipers look to end a four-game winless streak on the road as they take on the Surrey Eagles for the only time this season.  The Vipers last win on the road game at the Showcase in Chilliwack when they downed the Bulldogs.  Luke Pakulak has a goal and three assists in his last three games.  Hank Cleaves has points in three straight games.  In that span he has one goal and four assists. The Vipers powerplay has been great over the last 6 games with 7 goals on 21 opportunities.  The last time the Vipers were at the South Surrey Arena it was November 3rd and the Vipers won 3-2 in a shootout.

Last Game: The Eagles are coming off a weekend split with the Cowichan Valley Capitals.  Surrey won the first game 4-3 in overtime, before dropping a 7-5 decision on Saturday.  Aaron Schwartz had a goal and an assist while Michael Sochan made 26 saves on 31 shots in the loss.

Today’s Game: The Eagles are just one of two teams that are unbeaten on home ice.  The nest has been a house of horrors for teams this year as the Eagles are outscoring the opposition 29-9 at the South Surrey Arena.  The Eagles are the second least penalized team in the BCHL.  Surrey has 5 players with more than 15 points.  Leading the way is Jake Bongo, he has 8 goals and 13 assists.  Eli Pulver has had a third of the starts this season.  He has 8 wins, a goals against of 2.18 and a 917 save percentage.  He’s tied for the league lead in shutouts with 2.
