Vipers Game Day – Vipers Travel to SA For Midweek Showdown

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers look to end a 3 game winless streak tonight as they head to Salmon Arm to take on the Silverbacks.

The Vipers (4-6-3-2) come into the game following a 4-2 loss to the Backs last Wednesday.  Luke Buss and Liam Cavan had the goals that night, and despite a late flurry with the goalie pulled, couldn’t find the equalizer.  It’s been a tough month of November for a number of aspects for this team as they have played a lot of hockey in a short window.  The Vipers come in after a 7 day break which couldn’t have come at a better time.  The Vipers have seen a lot of this Salmon Arm team and despite with just 1 win, have had close games.  Two results have been losses of 2 goals, one was an empty netter, the other two went to overtime.  The Vipers will welcome back a breath of fresh air as Cam MacDonald returns to the lineup for the first time in 4 weeks.

The Silverbacks (11-3-1-0) had a weekend split with the West Kelowna Warriors over the weekend.  They had a 6-3 win on Friday, then a 2-0 shutout loss on Saturday.  Salmon Arm’s special teams have been a key to their success.  Their powerplay is near the top of the BCHL with 27 percent and their penalty kill is best in the league at just under 88 percent.  They’ve had a really home heavy schedule with 10 of their first 15 being on home ice.  They are 2-2 in their last 4 games at the Shaw Centre.

This is the 5th of 7 head to head meetings between these two teams.
