Vipers Game Day! – Vipers Travel to Trail

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers look to win back to back games tonight as they head to Trail to take on the Smoke Eaters.

The Vipers (20-16-4-3) come into the game following a huge 2-1 win on Family Day over the Prince George Spruce Kings.  Matt Culling had a pair of goals and Roan Clarke made 28 saves.  Seiya Tanaka-Campbell has really found his stride of late.  The Mill Bay, BC product has points in 9 of his last 11 games, with a goal and 10 assists in that stretch.  The Vipers are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games.

The Smoke Eaters (16-21-2-1) have gone through a tough stretch lately.  They had a tough two game swing last weekend with a 5-3 loss to Merritt on Friday, then an 8-4 loss in West Kelowna.  They’re 1-8-1 in their last 10 games and are winless in their last 8 games.  A huge part of that has to do with the injury bug as a number of key components to their lineup haven’t been available including three goaltenders.  The Smokies played last weekend with AP goalies.  Trail sits percentage points behind Wenatchee in the Interior Conference standings.  They’re still extremely dangerous offensively with 137 goals for.  Home ice has been big for the Smokies, they’re 11-9-1 on Cominco ice.

The Vipers are 3-0-0-1 so far against Trail.  The lone loss coming Decemeber 10th in a shootout in Trail.  Most recently, the Vipers down Trail 3-2 on February 2.
