Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers won’t have much time to dwell on Saturday night’s 6-4 loss to the Penticton Vees as they prepare to host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks for the annual Toques and Mittens Toss at Kal Tire Place on Sunday afternoon.
The Vipers enter the matchup with a 6-10-4-0 record, eager to bounce back after their third-period lead slipped away in Penticton. Will Schumacher continues to pace the offense, adding to his team-leading total with a goal and an assist last night to reach 18 points on the season.
Meanwhile, the Silverbacks are on a roll. With a 15-4-2-0 record and a four-game winning streak, they most recently edged the Vees 2-1 on Friday night at Rogers Rink.
This season’s head-to-head series between Vernon and Salmon Arm has been marked by defensive battles, with every game thus far ending in a shutout. The Silverbacks hold a 2-1 edge, making Sunday’s clash the pivotal fourth game in a seven-game regular-season series.
Fans are encouraged to bring toques and mittens to toss onto the ice after the Vipers’ first goal to support the Upper Room Mission.
Puck drop is set for 2:00 PM at Kal Tire Place. Tune in to 107.5 Beach Radio or Vernon Matters for live coverage starting at 1:45 PM, or catch the game on FloHockey.
