Okotoks, AB: The Vernon Vipers will be looking to extend their winning streak to three games when they take on the Okotoks Oilers for the first time on Sunday afternoon.
The Vipers are coming off an emotional 5-2 win against the Cranbrook Bucks on Saturday night at Western Financial Place. Several players contributed to the victory, including Luke Bibby, Shea Busch, Erik Pastro, and Keaton Dowhaniuk, who each notched two points. Goaltender Colin Reay was a standout, making 28 saves, some of which were game-changing, to help secure the win.
Vernon enters the matchup with a 3-6-1-0 record but have won three of their last four contests while outscoring their opponents 17-9 during that stretch.
The Oilers, meanwhile, are 3-7-0 to start their season. They’ll be coming into the game fresh off a 6-2 win over the Coquitlam Express, a game in which Joseph Meredith, Michael Kowalski, and Luke Calabria all had multi-point performances. Goalie Olivier Ciarlo also delivered a strong outing with 29 saves on 31 shots.
Okotoks’ top offensive threat is Jackson Rowland, who has 4 goals and 3 assists on the season. The Oilers are 2-2 in their last four games and will be looking to build on their recent success.
