Vipers Sign Forward Dmitrii Kubantsev

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce the signing of 2008-born forward Dmitrii Kubantsev for the 2025-26 BCHL season.

Kubantsev, from Rostov-on-Don, Russia, stands 6’1” and 198 pounds. He brings international experience and offensive skill to the Vipers lineup.

“We are excited to add Dmitrii to our group,” says Vipers Head Coach and GM Matt Cooke. “He came highly recommended by a successful and respected WHL executive. We feel Dmitrii will add energy, excitement, and a left-handed scoring prowess that we lack. Obviously there will be some adjustments needed to the North American rink size and game, but he has represented Russia at the international level with success, so we know he will adapt well.”

Kubantsev was the second-leading scorer for Novomoskovsk last season, registering 11 goals and 13 assists in 45 games in Russia’s top junior league. He also impressed on the international stage at the World Selects Invitational in Philadelphia (May 2024), where he led all players in the 2008-born division with 30 points (12 goals, 18 assists) in just 8 games.

“I’m extremely excited to join the Vipers organization and play along with some great players,” says Kubantsev. “I’m looking forward to being coached by former NHLer Matt Cooke and will try to learn as much from him as I can. I will bring my best game and do what I can to help the team win. I can’t wait to get started.”

Please join us in welcoming Dmitrii and his family to the Vipers organization.

The Vipers return to action Sunday evening at the BCHL Showcase in Abbotsford, when they take on the Coquitlam Express at 7:00 PM.
