Vipers Sink Clippers

CHILLIWACK, SEPTEMBER 23, 2016 – The Vernon Vipers rebounded nicely Friday afternoon with a solid 6-3 victory over the Nanaimo Clippers.
The Clippers opened the scoring just 78 seconds in as Adam Pilotte let loose a rocket from the right side to give Nanaimo a lead. The Vipers responded nicely when Steven Jandric snapped home a loose puck to even the score. A few minutes later Carter Stephenson led the rush and rifled a shot high over Austin Roden to give the Vipers a 2-1 lead after 1.

Scoring aplenty in the second period as the Vipers jumped out to a 4-1 lead at one point after goals from Steven Jandric and newcomer Ryan Brushett. The Clippers responded after a timeout as Matt Kowalski tipped in a goal before Michael Ufberg tallied to make it 5-2. Again the 3 goal lead was short-lived as Ben Solin deflected in a point shot to make it 5-3 after 2.

Carter Stephenson added a powerplay marker late in the third and the Viper defense shut down the Clipper offense and limited them to just 7 shots in the final frame.

Ty Taylor was solid in goal stopping 30 saves for his 3rd victory.

The Viper powerplay was clutch going 3 for 7. It has now scored in every game this season.
The Vipers will now face the Wenatchee Wild tomorrow night at 7:30. You can catch all the action on 107.5 Kissfm starting at 7:15.
